Anthony Dente, PE - Principal

Anthony Dente is a licensed engineer across the US, a principal of Verdant Structural Engineers, the CEO of Verdant Building Products and is the vice president of the Cob Research Institute. Anthony leads VSE’s permit acquisition, product engineering, and code development teams, specializing in pursuits that relate to his extensive experience with low carbon, bio-based and alternative building systems. As a national leader on these subjects, Anthony effectively grows the team's knowledge and ability to efficiently deliver with high quality materials meant for a greener future. Anthony enjoys staying connected to the standard residential and commercial work in his community that VSE prides themselves on. Verdant Building Products is deploying their carbon-storing, straw insulated, structural wall panels, developed under an EPA SBIR grant. Anthony has contributed authorship to multiple books, building codes, and standard development. He believes that by supporting appropriate documentation and code development of environmentally sustaining options, the building community will have the tools to design against the hazards of environmentally destructive construction as effectively as it designs against other safety hazards in the building code. Dente was recognized by the Constellation Prize for his Sustainable Engineering Practice, and he continues as a visionary and leader in the natural and low carbon building fields. He’s also a musician and enjoys life as the father of twin boys.
