HEMP HOME MAINE

This project is one of the first hempcrete homes built in Maine and won an award of merit for green home + design. The 11" walls are hempcrete cast in place as a monolithic assembly, finished with lime plaster to create a vapor-open system.

Hempcrete is carbon negative, renewable, and biodegradable, with exceptional moisture regulation, thermal stability, and resistance to fire and pests. The foundation uses prefabricated units and crushed stone, reducing concrete use by 70%.
