Light straw clay (LSC) is composed of straw coated in a clay slip, packed between wooden forms as a non-structural vapor-open biocomposite insulation. Lateral loads from wind and earthquakes are resisted through code-compliant solutions such as let-in bracing or prefabricated metal shear walls.
