BAR SHIRU
Bar Shiru, the first Bay Area analog-only vinyl record bar, was envisioned as a sonic and atmospheric refuge for quiet, meaningful listening of full albums with Japanese whiskey and craft cocktails. Located in Oakland's historic 1928 Latham Square Building, the 1,500 sf raw concrete space was transformed into a serene, intimate lounge with high-end audio equipment, custom speakers, and a 15-foot record wall.
Verdant performed a targeted structural assessment of the existing concrete slab and beam system to adapt this vintage space for the heavy demands of a specialized listening bar. By verifying these capacities without requiring invasive new supports, we ensured full structural compliance while preserving the intimate, low-profile aesthetic essential to the venue
